Part Time Attendance and HCC Dual Enrollment

INSTRUCTIONS FOR APPLYING FOR PART TIME ATTENDANCE (Rising Seniors Only)

These are instructions for you to follow if you plan on doing a Part Time 4 or 6 class schedule for your senior year.  If you plan on taking college courses at HCC, STOP, scroll down to “HCC Dual Enrollment Steps.”

  1. Visit the following link: https://www.hcps.org/students/enrollmentoptions
  2. Log in with the same credentials you use to log in to the computers at school
  3. In most cases, you will choose the Part Time – Work option. This is for students planning to go on a part time class schedule so that they can work more hours at their part time job.
  4. Under “Part Time Attendance (Students Only)”, click “Work”
  5. Please note that students will rarely choose the option of “Extraordinary Circumstances” or “Financial Circumstances”
  6. Complete the application. You will need to have a list of classes you plan to take as well as be prepared to write a brief letter stating why you want to go part time. Your parent will also write a brief letter. Fill in ALL blanks, even if you have to write in N/A for some sections. Otherwise, the application will not submit properly.
  7. Once you have hit submit, please make sure you receive confirmation.  This will appear in a green message.  If you do not receive this, your application did not go through.  You can also email your counselor to confirm if the application was received successfully.
  8. You will receive a confirmation email within 2 weeks stating whether your application was approved.  You will need to keep an eye on your email to look out for this.

  1. Apply for Early College admission by visiting the following link: https://www.hcps.org/students/enrollmentoptions
  2. Log in with the same credentials you use to log in to the computers at school
  3. You will see a table with a variety of options.  Go to the main tab that states “Early College (2.4 Minimum Cumulative GPA unweighted)”
  4. You will see 4 different options:
    1. College Credit Only – Choosing this option means that you want to take college courses on your own for only college (not high school) credit.  You will take classes at HCC for college credit.  These classes will not appear on your high school transcript.
    2. Dual Transfer of Credit – Choosing this option means that you want to take college courses for BOTH high school AND college credit.  Only certain classes are eligible for this option.  The list of approved HCPS credits that can be earned through HCC can be found here: Dual Enrollment Transfer Guide*Note that students wishing to take the Business Capstone Course or HCC Math will choose this option*
    3. Full-day Senior Waiver – Choosing this option means that you want to take all your remaining credits at HCC. You will still be an Aberdeen High School Student, but you will not be physically attending classes in the AHS building.  This is a great option for students whose only remaining credits needed for graduation are English IV and a Math.
    4. Waiver of Senior year – This option is rare.  Please see your counselor for additional information.
  5. In most cases students will be receiving college credit only.
  6. Speak to your counselor if are interested in the dual transfer of credit option.
  7. After your dual enrollment application has been approved, you will receive a letter via email to provide to HCC in order to receive a reduction in your tuition rate.  This letter must be emailed to [email protected]. *Please note that only students receiving a 2.4 minimum unweighted GPA will qualify for the tuition discount.*
