Connect 5 Outreach February 26, 2021

Good evening,

This is Principal Quigg reaching out with a very important message.

We are excited to have our students returning in a 25% cohort capacity starting on March 15, 2021.  Students have been assigned to a cohort and this information has been emailed to each student’s HCPS account.  Please be reminded that even if you receive a cohort designation, students and families have the right to choose to have their student remain at home, engaging in virtual instruction.

A cohort calendar is attached and will also be posted on our website and social media pages.

For all students, we have made the adjustment back to a normal school year bell schedule.  The normal bell schedule is below and will be posted on our website and social media pages.

We will adhere to the normal bell schedule for the remainder of the school year whether a student is in the building or working virtually from home.  *Please be reminded that FLEX Fridays will remain as they have been for the duration of the school year.

All students who are returning to school must complete a New COVID- Parent Acknowledgement Form, even if you completed one in the fall. This form is attached to this email. You can either print it out and bring the form back to school on your assigned cohort day or complete it electronically.

Any 9th grade student or students who are new to the building are invited to come and walk their schedule on March 12th. Only new students are permitted to tour the building so that we can maintain social distancing. Please follow the schedule below.

As students return to school, please know that Aberdeen High School is committed to keeping our students and staff as safe as possible. Students and staff will be expected to stay at home when they are sick, quarantine after a Covid-19 exposure, practice good hygiene and sanitization, (such as washing hands and cleaning surfaces) and always wearing a mask that covers both their nose and mouth, (except while eating breakfast or lunch).  Please note: bandanas do not qualify as a mask.

Additionally, students will be expected to maintain social distancing whenever possible, and to follow the direction of all teachers and staff members.  These expectations will be strictly enforced to maintain the safety of all our students and staff members at all times.

As additional changes occur, we will continue to provide electronic updates and encourage everyone to follow us on our AHS Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram sites.

One last reminder, with the absence of portrait day this year, the Aberdeen High School yearbook staff is asking each 9th – 12th grade student to upload their own portrait photo for use in this year’s yearbook.  Students will just choose an appropriate portrait photo from their camera roll or take one on the spot and upload it through ybkplus.com.

To upload your photo: Go to ybkplus.com on their phone.

  • Once on the site, enter your school email address
  • A code will then be emailed to verify identity.
  • Choose My Portrait, select and crop an appropriate portrait photo, then submit!
  • NOTE: Senior formal portraits will be uploaded automatically to the YBK+ system

Please note: The yearbook staff reserves the right to reject any photo that does not accurately represent the student identified, does not follow proper student dress code and/or does not meet publications standards.

Due to publishing deadlines, we need all portraits uploaded to ybkplus.com by the extended deadline of March 1, 2021!

The teachers and staff members of Aberdeen High School look forward to seeing everyone very soon.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Michael Quigg
